I’m Calling It: We’re All Just Kids in Adult Bodies

Look, I’m gonna say something controversial. Kids’ movies? They’re not really for kids. Or, well, they are, but they’re also for us. The adults. The ones who should know better but still cry during Toy Story.

I mean, come on. When was the last time you saw a kid truly appreciate the emotional depth of Inside Out? It’s us. We’re the ones who need that reminder about our inner emotions. Kids just wanna see colorful stuff blow up.

Last Tuesday, I was at this coffee shop on 5th, right? And I’m talking to my friend, let’s call him Marcus. Marcus is a dad, got two kids, watches alot of these movies. I asked him, “Marcus, be honest, who are these movies really for?” And he just looks at me, sips his coffee, and says, “Dude, I cried during Finding Nemo. Like, full-on ugly cried. My kids? They were just stoked about the turtles.”

Which… yeah. Fair enough.

But Why, Though?

So why are we so invested? Is it nostalgia? Guilt? Or is it that these movies actually have something to say? I think it’s a mix. And honestly, I don’t care. I’m here for it.

Take The Incredibles. That movie is basically a love letter to adults. Syndrome, the villain, is literally a nerd who got bullied as a kid and now wants revenge on the cool kids. It’s mean girls with superpowers. And the dad? Bob Parr? He’s just trying to balance work and family, okay? That’s us. That’s every adult ever.

And don’t even get me started on Frozen. “Let It Go” is a banger, sure, but the real story is about sisterly love and commitment. It’s deep, man. It’s like they took King Lear and made it sparkly.

A Quick Digression: The Minimalist Life

You know what else is deep? Minimalism. I was talking to a colleague named Dave about this, and he’s all, “Dude, minimalism is like the adult version of cleaning your room.” And I was like, “Dave, you’re a genius.” It’s true, though. We spend our childhoods making messes and our adulthoods trying to clean them up. It’s a never-ending cycle.

Speaking of cleaning up, if you’re looking to simplify your life, check out this minimalist yaşam başlangıç rehberi. It’s basically a guide to adulting without the hassle. I mean, who wouldn’t want that?

Back to the Movies

So, yeah. Kids’ movies are for adults. Deal with it. And if you’re not crying during Up, are you even human? I’m not sure but I guess that’s a you problem.

Anyway, I could go on. But I won’t. I’m not here to preach. I’m just here to say, it’s okay to love these movies. It’s okay to laugh, to cry, to sing along. It’s okay to be a kid again.

Because honestly? We all need that sometimes.
